If you use a hydrogen peroxide solution to clean and disinfect a contact lens, the lens needs to be neutralized prior to insertion into the eye.
Here are some other good ideas for contact lens users:
1) A multipurpose contact lens solution can be used to clean, rinse, disinfect, and store the contact lens in its case. These solutions are easy to understand for patients.
2) A contact lens RINSE can only be used to wash off the contact lens prior to insertion. It should NOT be used to store the contact lens in its case and it won't disinfect the contact lens. Using a disinfectant like hydrogen peroxide will be necessary and then the lens will need to be stored in a multipurpose solution.
3) If you use a hydrogen peroxide solution to clean and disinfect a contact lens, the lens needs to be neutralized prior to insertion into the eye.
4) Don't touch the tip of the contact lens bottle because it can seed the bottle with bacteria
5) You should never use tap water to rinse the contact lens because it can have bacteria in it
6) A contact lens case should be replaced every three months
7) Patient with dry eye can use a rewetting drop to help with dryness
